About the Project

The Kiritiri Health Centre, located within the Mayori Archdeaconry of the ACK Diocese of Mbeere, serves a significant catchment area across rural Mbeere South. The centre had been operating with outdated and insufficient medical equipment, limiting its capacity to provide safe and effective care — particularly for maternal and child health services.

In 2024 the Diocese completed a targeted equipment upgrade to address the most critical gaps.

What Was Done

The upgrade covered three main areas:

Diagnostic Equipment Installation of a basic diagnostic suite including pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, glucometers, and a haematology analyser to support basic laboratory services.

Maternity Ward Supply of new maternity beds with adjustable positions, delivery kits, and neonatal resuscitation equipment to improve the safety of deliveries at the centre.

Solar Power Backup Installation of a solar power system with battery storage to ensure uninterrupted electricity during power outages — critical for equipment that must run continuously, including refrigeration for vaccines and medications.
