Our Diocese

Clergy and Staff

The ACK Diocese of Mbeere is served by its Bishops, archdeacons, parish clergy and a dedicated diocesan staff together caring pastorally for the faithful across 72 parishes.

Provincial leadership

The Diocese is part of the Anglican Church of Kenya, under the leadership of the Archbishop, The Most Rev. Dr. Jackson Ole Sapit.

The Diocesan Bishop

The Rt. Rev. Prof. Moses Masamba Nthukah is the second and current Diocesan Bishop of Mbeere, consecrated and enthroned on 12th October 2008. The Bishop is the principal shepherd, teacher and chief liturgical celebrant of the Diocese.

The Assistant Bishop

The Rt. Rev. Dr. John Kimani Nthigah was consecrated as Assistant Bishop on 12th May 2024. He supports the Diocesan Bishop in the pastoral leadership and ministry of the Diocese.

Past bishops

  • The Rt. Rev. Gideon G. Ireri — first Bishop of the Diocese, consecrated 26th October 1997 at the Church of the Good Samaritan, Nyangwa.

Diocesan office

The Diocesan office is the administrative centre of the Diocese, coordinating pastoral, financial and operational matters on behalf of the Bishop. Departments include:

  • Provost / Vicar General — assists the Bishop in the governance of the Diocese
  • Diocesan Secretary — official records, correspondence and administration
  • Finance Office — stewardship of diocesan finances, parish accounts and development funds
  • Development & Programmes Office — coordinates community development, partnerships and projects

Archdeaconries and parish clergy

Rt. Rev. Dr. John Kimani Nthiga

In office since 2022

Rt. Rev. Dr. John Kimani Nthiga was installed as the third Bishop of the Diocese of Mbeere in 2022. He brings to the diocese a vision centred on evangelism, youth empowerment, and financial self-sufficiency. He holds a doctorate in theology and previously served in senior leadership roles within the Anglican Church of Kenya.
