Ngenge Borehole and Water Tank Project
Drilling of a 60-metre borehole and installation of a 10,000-litre elevated storage tank serving 3 villages and the local parish in Ngenge Archdeaconry.
About the Project
Access to clean, reliable water has long been a challenge for communities in the semi-arid Ngenge Archdeaconry. Residents — particularly women and children — were spending several hours each day travelling to fetch water from distant and often unsafe sources.
The Ngenge Borehole and Water Tank Project was initiated by the Diocese to provide a sustainable, community-owned water solution that would serve both the local parish and the surrounding villages.
What Was Done
Borehole Drilling A borehole was drilled to a depth of 60 metres, reaching a reliable underground aquifer capable of supplying water year-round regardless of rainfall patterns.
Elevated Storage Tank A 10,000-litre elevated steel tank was installed on a raised platform, allowing gravity-fed water distribution to multiple tap points across the three served villages and the parish compound.
Community Water Committee A locally-elected water committee was trained in basic maintenance, tariff collection, and fault reporting to ensure long-term sustainability of the system.
